The Nigerian Youth Parliament participated in the Think Tank Meeting on the National Youth Development Commission Bill.
Today 15 July 2021, a Delegation of the Nigerian Youth Parliament led by the House Leader of the Parliament, Hon Najib Waziri Esq, Hon Abdulkareem AbdulKareem (Chairman Committee on Humanitarian Affairs), and Hon Stanly Chibuike (Chairman southeast Caucus) attended and participated at the Think Tank Meeting on the National Youth Development Commission Bill organized by the Young Parliamentarian Forums of the National Assembly in Partnership with YIAGA AFRICA, Youth Organizing and Leadership (YOL) and Action Aid Nigeria.
The Bill when passed into law will initiate programs that will tackle poverty alleviation, urban and rural development and combat crimes, substance abuse, and social decay amongst Youth and as well integrate the youth into the economy via employment and skills development.
In his remarks, the House Leader emphasized the need to cap the age of the Staffs of the Commission in line with the National Youth Policy act and also ensure representation of Various Youth Groups across the country to ensure the commission is driven by the youth who are the main beneficiaries.
The Meeting was attended by various youth stakeholders from across the country.
